1st Meeting of the Network of Audiovisual Memory in Latin American Universities (REMAUL)

We announce the opening of registration for the 1st Meeting of the Network of Audiovisual Memory in Latin American Universities (REMAUL), to be held in Niterói, Brazil, on September 18 and 19, 2025.
REMAUL was created through a partnership between the Audiovisual Preservation Laboratory of the University of the Republic, Uruguay, the Historical Sources Laboratory of the National University of Colombia, and the University Audiovisual Preservation
Laboratory of the Fluminense Federal University, Brazil, consolidated in previous events held in Medellín (2023) and Montevideo (2024).
The 1st REMAUL Meeting aims to bring together initiatives developed in the field of Latin American audiovisual heritage preservation by universities or in partnership with them. The meeting is open to professors, students, researchers, filmmakers, archivists, and other professionals involved in audiovisual preservation projects across our continent.
This 1st REMAUL Meeting is organized by the University Audiovisual Preservation Laboratory (LUPA-UFF) and will take place in person at the Institute of Arts and Social Communication of the Fluminense Federal University, on the Gragoatá campus, in
Niterói.
Participation in the meeting will be possible in three formats:
1 – Registration for project presentations, with talks of up to 20 minutes
2 – Registration for audiovisual work screenings (in sessions of up to 20, 40, or 60 minutes,
including presentation and discussion)
3 – Registration as an attendee
The meeting will accept presentations in Spanish and Portuguese.

Registrations are open until April 25, 2025. The selected participants will be announced by May 19, 2025.
There is no registration fee for the event, only for selected participants. The number of participants is limited.
The 1st ReMAUL Meeting is organized by LUPA-UFF with the support of the Brazilian Association for Audiovisual Preservation (ABPA), the Research Network on Archival Images (REPIA), the University Network of Audiovisual Collections of the Brazilian Society for Cinema and Audiovisual Studies (RUAAv – SOCINE), and the National Institute of Science and Technology in Audiovisual Preservation and Restoration (INCT PreRES).
